Drivers in Alaska are paying an average of $3.57 a gallon for gasoline at the pump, the second highest average in the country, behind Hawaii's $3.71.
The AAA auto club reports that's up a nickel in the past month and 20 cents in the past year. It's 47 cents higher than the national average.
The AAA gasoline survey for Tuesday reports the average price for a gallon of self-serve gasoline is $3.45 in Anchorage, $3.61 in Fairbanks and $3.43 in Juneau.
The Anchorage price is up 5 cents in the past month and 17 cents in the past year.
After Hawaii and Alaska, the next highest average gasoline price among the states is in California and New York, both at $3.36 a gallon.
