Weather delays try for McKinley summit

High winds and whiteout conditions stalled a Minnesota man's attempt to become the first person to make a solo attempt of Mount McKinley in January.

Lonnie Dupre spent Saturday camped at 17,200 feet, waiting out unfavorable weather, according to his expedition manager in Talkeetna. If conditions improve, he'll make a push for the 20,320-foot summit today, Tom Surprenant said in an email.
