Fish board to meet in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Board of Fish will meet in Anchorage to consider proposed regulatory changes to the Upper Cook Inlet Area fisheries.

The board will take up topics including fishing season dates and harvest and bag limits. It also will discuss management plans for sockeye, coho, king salmon and other species. Areas include salt waters of Cook Inlet and associated freshwater drainages including the Kenai, Kasilof, and Susitna river drainages.

The board also will review three action plans developed by the Department of Fish and Game to increase king salmon returns to the Chuitna, Theodore, and Lewis Rivers and Alexander, Willow, and Goose Creeks.

The board has received over 200 proposals for consideration during the two-week public meeting, which runs from Feb. 20-March 5.
