Palin attends start of husband's Iron Dog

BIG LAKE -- Todd Palin is participating in the world's longest snowmachine race, with his famous wife on hand to see him off at the start.

Palin and his racing partner took off late Sunday morning in the 2,000-mile Iron Dog. Palin is a four-time champion of the Alaska race, which ends in Fairbanks.

Seeing him off was his wife, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and daughters Bristol and Piper.

Todd Palin, who last won in 2007, scratched from the race last year.

In this year's race, 28 two-person teams are competing for a record total purse of $202,500 purse.
