April saw just 0.4 inches of precipitation this year, some 0.12 inches below average -- though too many brilliantly sunny days wasn't the cause. Only four days all month were fair, according to the National Weather Service. But the month was a bit warmer than usual, with the average high temperature of 45.5 degrees coming in 1.6 degrees above the average high, with the average low 29.6 some 0.9 degrees above what's typical.
Anchorage's warmest official temperature in April was 53 degrees, substantially below the all-time record of 72 degrees recorded six years ago on April 29. But at least the month's low point of 22 degrees was well above the April's all-time low of minus 21, recorded in 1944.
