Pilot found unhurt in airplane crash near Beluga Lake

Searchers say a 45-year-old pilot has been found alive, four days after he took off from Anchorage's Lake Hood floatplane port without filing a flight plan.
John Burick, a special agent with the U.S. Forest Service, was found by searchers with the Alaska Air National Guard shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday at the site of his crashed plane, at the west end of Beluga Lake area 65 miles from where he took off in Anchorage.
Alaska National Guard spokesman Maj. Guy Hayes says Burick is not injured.
He was located by a 210 th Rescue Squadron HH-60 Pave Hawk and 212 th Rescue Squadron pararescuemen
Forest Service spokesman Ray Massey says Burick crashed his Piper PA-18 Super Cub on Saturday, the same day he took off.
Massey says co-workers of Burick did not become concerned until Tuesday because he often works outside the Anchorage office.
The Anchorage Civil Air Patrol and the Rescue Coordination Center participated in the search for Burick.
